Akcabelen (Cetmi) Sugar Beans are grown in Akcabelen town in Beysehir, Konya. Thanks to manual sowing, manual hoeing in weed control and manual harvesting, the genotype of the seed has never deteriorated and has been passed down from generation to generation for more than 100 years. For this reason, we can say that the importance and value of this product among its counterparts is quite high.
Bean production is carried out between the altitudes of 1210-1225 meters at the foot of the Taurus Mountains in a region called as “Transition” zone
Akcabelen (Cetmi) Sugar Beans which have a unique taste, was registered by being published in the Geographical Indication and Traditional Product Name bulletin numbered 56 on 1st July 2019 with 447 registration number.
Akcabelen (Cetmi) Sugar Beans , have been considered by a globally recognized joint environmental program managed by organizations such as the United Nations, the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the UN Development Program (UNDP), the UN Environment Program (UNEP) and the World Bank.
This product has been included in the GEF Small Grants Program within the scope of the project called “Don’t separate us from our seeds” by supporting “activities for the processing and marketing of the Akcabelen bean genotype with traditional methods”
